The outstanding feature of the Eden Hotel setting is the mammoth swimming pool. The rooms in the two wings look over the pool with its Jacuzzis, bridges and sunken pool bars.. The sunsets here over the golden sands of Beruwela beach are amongst the most stunning on the south coast. The rooftop Penthouse Suites offer top end luxury Beruwela Beach Hotel accommodation. The Suites and Deluxe Rooms on the Paradise top floor, where we have stayed, are some of the finest in Lanka, not only in spaciousness and creature comfort but also in taste and furnishing. The twin bedded standard rooms, also teak floored, to us are as their name correctly implies standard when compared to the four poster bedded superior rooms described.

Eden offers an equally wide range of dining areas. The main dining room called the Garden of Eden has wide windows fronting onto the waters of the pool. Delightful is the teak floored Captain’s deck fronting onto the pool. For fish lovers the pavilion offers a an la carte fish market.

The Signature fine dining restaurant on the upper floors offers the spectacle of a walk in bar as well as tables on the deck overlooking the pool.

Eden Resort & Spa (*****)

Accommodation is in 3 categories:   The Standard Rooms on the upper floors. These have teak wooden floors. Other than this there is nothing special to commend these rooms which we categorise as 3 star plus accommodation. Ground floor garden deluxe rooms with marble floors which are 4 stars and which offer easy access to the pool, tropical gardens and beach. These also have very large bathrooms Paradise Rooms which are deluxe and of a much higher 5 star standard, have top floor views and provide access to a private lounge on the Paradise Suite floor. These are some of the best rooms available in Sri Lanka beach hotels. Penthouse Suites of which there are 2 All rooms have sea view balconies or terraces in the case of the garden rooms and face the mammoth pool. The Paradise Rooms are by far our favourite and resemble suites. With 4 poster beds and superior furnishings they are of a totally different category to the standard rooms. Sited on the top floor the room balcony views over the pool are also superior. Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner is served in the large main dining room whose windows front onto the swimming pool. The "fish market a la carte" pavilion offers semi covered dining, away from the main building closer to the beach. Barbeques are held on dry nights enabling dining under the stars. There is also a signature dining restaurant on the higher floors. Another pleasant aspect of the Eden is teak floored Captains Deck which fronts onto the pool. There is also a Spa at the Eden Resort, with a pleasant frontage onto a garden pond and some cool equipment.
